-did 2 tours in iran, honorably discharged after failing a routine mental health exam
-irish/german ancestry (all the red hair of an irishman, all the paleness of a german)
-occasionally hallucinates
-gifted with the luck of somehow always having enough money to get by
-the real wanderer type but more comfortable in desert climates after iran
